Statutory declarations - How many?

When I was working on my visa application, I got pretty confused about the Statutory Declaration and the Relationship Detail section of the application because they seemed very similar. I was not sure how many times do I need to respond those questions? How many declarations do we need to prepare?

To put it simply, you'll need two. Both the applicant and the visa sponsor are required to submit their own statutory declarations. While the topics covered in these declarations may overlap (covering financial details, the nature of the household, social aspects, and the commitment within the relationship), it's essential to remember that they must be written from each person's unique perspective, in their own words.

In my case, as the applicant, I responded directly to each question within the Relationship Details section of the application. Simultaneously, my partner prepared a Sponsor Statutory Declaration. Once he had completed his declaration, he got it signed by a Justice of the Peace. Then, he submitted it as an attachment in his section of the application.

Remember that the sponsor also has their side of the application to complete, along with its necessary documentation!

If you're looking for an example of the Sponsor Statutory Declaration, you can find a slightly modified version of the one I submitted in this link.

Best of luck with your application!
